Manchester United keen on Juanlu Sanchez

Manchester United are showing an interest in Juanlu Sanchez after making contact for the 21-year-old Sevilla star.

According to ABC Sevilla via Sport Witness, Manchester United are keen on right-sided Sevilla star Juanlu Sanchez. The Red Devils have contacted one of Sevilla director Victor Orta’s team members to enquire about Sanchez, and a move in 2025 could become a possibility.

Juanlu Sanchez on Manchester United’s radar

Juanlu Sanchez had a breakthrough season in La Liga, featuring 26 times during the 2023-23 campaign for Sevilla. The right-sided player can play in any position on the wing, making him a valuable asset for any top team constantly weighing up the versatility of any given target.

Sanchez has two years left on his deal, with early indications pointing towards Sevilla angling for a renewal for the 21-year-old La Liga utility man. Given their precarious financial conditions, should they not find a breakthrough in talks, selling Sanchez would be the only viable option for the Spanish side.

Should they sell him next summer, Sanchez will have no shortage of offers, especially given his talent and the potential cut-price fee he will be available for. Barcelona held an interest but could not move based on their financial standing, as they would have had to pay a significant fee to Sevilla.

Manchester United are keen on Sanchez, as they have reportedly maintained an interest since watching the player at the Olympics. They believe he has future potential to become a solid star and could jump ahead of the queue if indicated that Sevilla will sell him. They already signed Noussair Mazraoui this summer from Bayern Munich. Still, they could angle a move for Sanchez if the chance arrived.

Manchester United initiated Sanchez contact

Manchester United have not spoken to Sevilla directly, but one of the club’s representatives contacted Sevilla director Victor Orta’s colleague about the 21-year-old La Liga utility man. It might have been a soft enquiry to keep them posted about the future situation and nothing beyond that.

On the other hand, Orta might be alert to Sahcnhez’s future and could initiate contract talks with the player ahead of a crucial period. They will want to renew his deal well before January, or else speculation could begin to mount for the player, who has started two of their opening three games in La Liga and has already scored once.
