Rodri open to signing new Manchester City deal but tempted by Real Madrid

Manchester City midfield star Rodri is open to signing a new contract but is also enticed by the prospect of joining Real Madrid.

Rodri’s future has become a big talking point of late. He still has a few years left on his deal at Manchester City but he could still be on the move next summer. According to AS via SportWitness, the Spanish international is open to penning down a new deal at City but he is also tempted by the idea of joining Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has gone from strength to strength since joining the Manchester-based club in 2019 from Atletico Madrid. He has been a go-to man for Pep Guardiola and has played a big part in all the success they have had in recent seasons.

While he is one of the first names on their teamsheet week in and week out and still has three years left on his deal, his future has been up in the air of late. There is interest in his services from European giants Real Madrid. As per the report, the Spanish club have made him their top priority for the summer of 2025.

They are looking to bring in Alphonso Davies as a free agent next summer and are reportedly ready to splash the cash on Rodri as they look to further bolster their squad. He is a great dream for the Spanish giants and is enticed by the prospect of joining Los Blancos.

Rodri tempted by the opportunity to join Real Madrid

The 28-year-old will only leave City to join the 2024 Champions League winners and is very tempted by the idea of being a part of their project. With less than three years left on his deal, the Spanish international only has two paths, either renew with City or make the move to Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola’s contract at City runs out in the summer of 2025 and if he ends up leaving the Premier League outfit, Rodri could end up moving away in search of a new challenge. The Spanish midfielder is valued at around €130 million and Madrid will have to fork out a massive fee to bring him to the club.

While he is tempted by the idea of joining Los Blancos, Rodri is also open to penning down a new deal at the English club as he can become one of their highest-paid players. His agent Pablo Barquero has a good relationship with the Spanish club but he has already received calls from City regarding a new deal. As a result, the former Atletico Madrid star’s future is one to keep an eye on.
