Ben Chilwell is still looking to solve his situation at Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes in other countries.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Ben Chilwell is eager to find a solution to his situation before the summer transfer window shuts down in other countries. The 27-year-old Chelsea outcast cannot join another Premier League club anymore, but the window is still open in many other nations.
Ben Chilwell and his Chelsea journey so far
Ben Chilwell has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from Leicester City in August 2020. The Englishman was a popular signing for the West London club after his exploits with the Foxes. However, fitness issues have plagued him in the last four years, although he has made his mark whenever he has taken the pitch.
The 27-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with nine goals and 12 assists. However, Enzo Maresca does not have Chilwell in his plans for the 2024/25 season and banished him from the first-team picture a few weeks ago.
The decision surprised many, considering Chilwell served Chelsea as the vice-captain in the 2023/24 season, donning the armband several times. However, many former Chelsea stars found out the hard way that the Blues are ruthless in offloading unwanted players, with Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher, and Trevoh Chalobah departing Stamford Bridge last month.
What next?
Chilwell was also in talks to find a new club after Enzo Maresca suggested he was free to leave midway through August. However, the England international could not find a solution to his problem, even though he attempted to seal a loan move to Brentford on the deadline day.
Widespread reports also linked Ben Chilwell with Manchester United before the Red Devils ruled out a late move for the 27-year-old Chelsea outcast. The Englishman is trying to find a new club before the summer transfer window closes. His representatives are in talks with Fenerbahce.
The summer transfer window in Turkiye does not close for another two weeks. So, Chilwell still has enough time to join Fenerbahce if the talks with the Super Lig giants progress well. Meanwhile, clubs in the Netherlands, Portugal, and Belgium can also sign the English full-back if discussions with him and Chelsea begin quickly.
