Crystal Palace rejected the chance to sign Carlos Forbs

Crystal Palace reported rejected the chance to sign Carlos Forbs late in the transfer window, as the winger joined Wolves later on.

According to Edmund Brack, Crystal Palace may have rejected the chance to sign Ajax winger Carlos Forbes in the transfer window. The 20-year-old wide player eventually joined Wolves on deadline day, while the Eagles also conducted massive business in the final phase.

Crystal Palace rejected Carlos Borgs deal

Crystal Palace fans would reflect on the transfer window that shut on Friday night and heave a sigh of relief at best. The Eagles were in danger of losing one of their best stars, Marc Guehi, on deadline day, but the defender stayed put, which later resulted in the club adding two more defenders.

From a defensive standpoint, the Eagles look much stronger than they did on Thursday, and for that reason alone the fans will be happy as well as the manager. Meanwhile, they also completed the signing of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal, which strengthened their attack, while Odsonne Edouard joined Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Palace might have been looking for a new attacker as well following the loss of Michael Olise. Hence, there were a few links to wingers, and now the story reveals that Ajax wide-man Carlos Borgs was an option.

Palace reportedly had the chance to bring the 20-year-old wide player to Selhurst Park but rejected the opportunity to move on to other priorities. This may not have been on deadline day but rather entirely before that period, which the Eagles passed up.

Wolves sign Carlos Borgs

Carlos Borgs only joined Ajax from Manchester City in a €14 million deal but has not been a good enough performer in Amsterdam. The idea of playing for a Premier League side might have enticed the 20-year-old wide player, and he has since joined Wolves on a loan deal

Now, there are questions about whether Palace were offered the chance to sign him on a permanent basis or a loan. With Wolves managing to agree on a loan deal with an option to buy worth €13.5 million, it’s clear that Ajax does not rate the player and wants to recoup most of the money they spent to sign him last year.
