Manchester United are unwilling to lower their demands for Jadon Sancho, despite Chelsea’s push to secure his transfer on deadline day.
Jadon Sancho’s future has been one of the biggest talking points on deadline day. Chelsea are keen on signing the Manchester United outcast, and they have been working very hard on a potential deal in the last hours. The Blues are pushing hard to reach an agreement with the Red Devils. But according to Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag’s team are not willing to lower their demands.
Sancho’s big-money move to Manchester United has not really worked out. He has struggled for consistency at Old Trafford and things went from bad to worse last season when he had a public rift with the Dutch manager.
The former Borussia Dortmund winger was exiled from the first team for the first half of the season before being loaned out to the Bundesliga club. While he did bounce back during his short stint at his former club and was a part of Manchester United’s pre-season tour, the England international doesn’t really have a place in ten Hag’s team as he has been left out of their squad for the initial games of the new season.
The 24-year-old is on massive wages and Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to ensure they get him off their books if he is not going to be an important part of their first team. Chelsea have shown a significant interest in his services.
Manchester United unwilling to lower Sancho demands
While initial reports suggested that both clubs were looking at a swap deal involving Sancho and Raheem Sterling, that does not seem to be the case anymore. The Blues are pushing to sign the England international in a separate deal and they have already submitted two different proposals to the Red Devils.
Their first offer is a loan deal with a purchase option, and the second is a loan deal with an obligation to buy and there is a significant difference in the payout of both offers. While they have offered a better proposal than Juventus, the Blues have not met the Red Devils’ demands.
While Manchester United want to get him off their books, they are not willing to accept anything below their asking price. They have no problems sanctioning a temporary departure as long as their conditions regarding the buy clause and salary coverage are met.
The player has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea. However, both clubs are yet to reach a common. With time running out, the Blues will have to hurry if they do not want to miss out on him.
