Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho before the end of deadline day.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea have entered into advanced talks with Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho. The Blues have set two conditions to take the unwanted winger to Stamford Bridge before the end of the transfer window.
The Red Devils forked out a massive £73 million to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. But, unfortunately, the move has not worked out for either party. The English winger has struggled to get going at Old Trafford, and he also had a public rift with Erik ten Hag last season, following which he was exiled from the first team.
Manchester United eventually ended up sending him back to Dortmund on a short loan during the winter. Sancho managed to get things back on track and he helped the team in black and yellow reach the final of the Champions League.
Following his return to his parent club the English winger made amends with ten Hag. While the Dutch manager did involve Sancho during the pre-season, he has left the player out of the squad for their opening Premier League fixtures which suggests Sancho is not in their plans moving ahead.
With the 24-year-old earning massive wages at Manchester United, minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made it clear that they cannot afford to have any big-money players in their squad to just sit on the sidelines. They have been looking for a solution for the English international’s future.
Chelsea set conditions to sign Jadon Sancho
Manchester United are ready to offload him for £40 million, and they are also open to a loan move as long as there is a mandatory buy option. Juventus and Chelsea have emerged as two potential destinations with the English club being a priority option for Sancho.
The Blues have been in talks with the Red Devils and as per the report, they are closing in on an agreement. But, they have set two conditions for the transfer to go ahead. Chelsea are in advanced negotiations with the Red Devils, but for the deal to go through, United will have to take a player off their books or they will have to accept a loan-to-buy offer with a lower fee than their valuation.
Manchester United are keen on having Raheem Sterling in their squad, and a swap deal could be highly plausible in the remaining time. But, since Sterling is also on massive wages, things could get complicated.
