Fulham might launch the offensive to sign 30-year-old Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron before the summer transfer window shuts down.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Miguel Almiron is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Toffees are mulling over a late move for the Newcastle United attacker, with the Magpies demanding around £30 million to part ways with the Paraguayan international before the summer transfer window shuts down.
Miguel Almiron and his Newcastle United journey so far
Miguel Almiron has enjoyed a decent spell with Newcastle United since arriving from Atlanta United in January 2019. The South American attacker was the Tyneside outfit’s record signing when he moved to St. James’ Park over half a decade ago. Since then, he has endured a topsy-turvy ride at the club.
While the 30-year-old enjoyed his most productive campaign thus far with Newcastle United in the 2022/23 season, he was not at the races last term. Almiron has turned out over 200 times for the Tyneside club while chipping in with 30 goals and 12 assists.
Meanwhile, Miguel Almiron’s long-term future at Newcastle United has been uncertain for a long time, with the club ready to part ways with him since the winter transfer window. The Magpies have already informed the Paraguay international that he is free to depart from St. James’ Park. He does not have a shortage of suitors, with Fulham among the clubs keen on signing him.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Miguel Almiron is a tad bit surprising but understandable. The Cottagers have been keen on reinforcing their offensive department with multiple wide attackers since Willian and Bobby Decordova-Reid departed from Craven Cottage earlier this summer. So, several candidates, including Ernest Nuamah, have emerged on Fulham’s radar.
However, Almiron is also a viable target, even though he is a decade older than Nuamah. The 30-year-old is well-experienced in the Premier League and can hit the ground running at Fulham. However, the Newcastle United outcast will not come cheap, with the Tyneside club demanding around £30 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.
The report suggests that Fulham might not be ready to cough up £30 million to secure Miguel Almiron’s services in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if the Paraguay international’s spell with Newcastle United ends before Friday’s summer transfer deadline.
