Everton, Fulham make approach for Ernest Nuamah

Everton and Fulham have reportedly enquired about signing 20-year-old Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah from Ligue 1 club Lyon.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ernest Nuamah might leave Lyon despite completing a permanent move to the Ligue 1 club last month. Everton and Fulham are keen on signing the 20-year-old winger before the summer transfer window shuts down, with the two Premier League clubs submitting enquiries for the youngster.

Who is Ernest Nuamah?

Ernest Nuamah has established himself as one of the most promising young wingers in Ligue 1 since joining Lyon. A native of Kumasi, he spent most of his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the Right to Dream academy. The youngster’s stock rose during his spell with Nordsjaelland.

Meanwhile, Lyon signed Nuamah on an initial loan deal from RWD Molenbeek last year before completing a permanent move this summer. The 20-year-old has turned out 35 times thus far for the Ligue 1 outfit while chipping in with three goals and two assists.

However, Ernest Nuamah’s spell with Lyon might end after one year, with the Ligue 1 club ready to cash in on him before the summer transfer window shuts down. The Ghanaian winger’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, particularly from the Premier League, with Everton and Fulham enquiring about him.

Premier League move on the cards?

Everton’s interest in Ernest Nuamah is understandable. The Toffees are keen on signing a wide attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down, with Sean Dyche seeking more quality in his squad. So, several candidates, including Largie Ramazani, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with Nuamah also a viable target.

As for Fulham, the Cottagers have scoured the market for a wide attacker since Willian ended his spell at Craven Cottage. Since then, several options, including Reiss Nelson, have emerged on Fulham’s radar. However, Nuamah is also a viable candidate to bolster the West London club’s offensive department.

With Everton and Fulham submitting enquiries to sign the 20-year-old Ghanaian winger, a deal might be on the cards. However, time is running out for the two Premier League clubs to land the Lyon attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down.
