Arsenal are still open to letting Reiss Nelson leave before the transfer deadline despite the absence of offers for the winger.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal are open to offers for Reiss Nelson ahead of the transfer deadline. The winger needs regular game time, and he is down in the pecking order for the current season, although there is a visible shortage of interest in the 24-year-old attacker.
Arsenal open to late Reiss Nelson bids
Arsenal are not done with their transfer business as there could be a few incomings as well as outgoings before the deadline on Friday night. Mikel Arteta is still figuring out his best squad for the long season ahead, as the club might be open to a few more offers for their current stars.
Reiss Nelson is someone they have been open to selling all summer, but there has been a lack of concrete offers. Leicester City were keen, but any movement for the 24-year-old hit a snag for some reasons unknown at this point.
West Ham United were also keen, and it is believed the Hammers did not fancy paying what Arsenal wanted for their homegrown star. Nelson is tied until 2027 on a contract in excess of £100,000-a-week wages, which could also become a problem for them when coming to selling the player. Moreover, they have already signed Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United, although a late attempt is not ruled out just yet.
Nelson is down in the pecking order and is the only viable Bukayo Saka backup at the club following Fabio Vieira’s move back to FC Porto on loan. While Arsenal are open to offers coming in for Nelson, it does leave them short of cover for Saka, although there is hope that they will bring in a replacement to take his place in the squad.
Arsenal expecting further outgoings
Arsenal are on the verge of selling Eddie Nketiah, as Crystal Palace may have agreed a £30 million package for the homegrown striker. The academy star has an agreement on personal terms with the Eagles, and this move could be imminent.
There is also the prospect of Aaron Ramsdale departing the club before the transfer deadline, as Arsenal have already lined up Joan Garcia from Espanyol as his replacement. Jakub Kiwior is another name on the sales sheet, as the Gunners could accept an offer for the Polish defender, especially having signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna in the summer.
