Mohamed Salah might not prefer a move to Chelsea next summer when his contract expires as Saudi Arabia seems the likliest destination.
According to Football Insider, Mohamed Salah might not be interested in a return to Chelsea once his Liverpool contract expires next summer. The Seven-season Liverpool veteran is yet to agree on a new deal with the Merseysiders, although Saudi Arabia appears to be his likeliest destination when he leaves Anfield.
No Chelsea move for Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah was given a platform to perform at the highest level by Liverpool after many branded him a Chelsea reject. The Egyptian signed for the Blues after impressing with Swiss side FC Basel but barely got his chance to shine at Stamford Bridge before being shipped off to Italy.
He shone for Fiorentina before signing for Roma and putting in some key performances. Jurgen Klopp decided to bring him, and Salah was Liverpool’s best player in his first-ever season here, breaking records along the way. After seven seasons at Anfield, he’s still their most important player but in danger of leaving the club for free.
Many had expected Saudi Arabian clubs to come back for the attacker with another massive bid, but none of that has happened. Now, Football Insider are citing a report on The Athletic from June 2022 about links to Chelsea, and this was when Liverpool were trying to renew his deal, which they did, suggesting that Salah has no interest in returning to Stamford Bridge.
With Chelsea already moving in a different direction and Salah already thinking about a move to Saudi, in all probabilities, a return to Stamford Bridge is unlikely. At this stage of his career, the Seven-season Liverpool veteran will have lucrative offers from the Middles Eastern nation, something no other club either in Europe or the Premier League will be able to match.
Will Salah stay at Liverpool?
Many reports are suggesting Liverpool could still attempt to renew Salah’s deal, although he’s already their highest paid player in history. The Saudi Pro League are confident of landing the Egyptian next season, and the winger will land a big deal if he decides against signing any new contract with the Merseysiders.
His future is up in the air with his current deal expiring next summer, and there’s a huge chance he will cash in on Saudi money without them having to pay a penny to Liverpool. As for the rumours about Chelsea, there’s nothing to it, as the Blues will continue on their quest to bring more young players in the future.
