Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old versatile Dutch midfielder Quinten Timber before the summer transfer window closes.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Quinten Timber is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds have compiled a shortlist of three candidates to bolster their midfield department before the summer transfer window shuts down. The 23-year-old Feyenoord midfielder has thus emerged as a target, with the Merseyside outfit looking to reunite him with Arne Slot.
Who is Quinten Timber?
Quinten Timber has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in his homeland since joining Feyenoord from FC Utrecht in July 2022. The Dutchman is Jurrien Timber’s twin brother, with the duo spending their formative together at Feyenoord and Ajax. While Jurrien remained at Ajax, Quinten parted ways a few years ago.
The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last two years and played his part as Feyenoord won the 2022/23 Eredivisie title. Timber has turned out 78 times thus far for Feyenoord while chipping in with 12 goals and 13 assists.
Meanwhile, Quinten Timber’s progress at the Dutch club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, have been keen on signing the Netherlands international in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool among his prospective suitors.
Will Timber reunite with Arne Slot at Liverpool?
Liverpool’s interest in Quinten Timber is understandable. The Reds have been keen on signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window after losing Thiago Alcantara as a free agent. While the Spanish international was not a regular for Liverpool last season, his departure has created a void in the midfield department.
So, Timber has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool, with the Merseyside outfit also looking at other options in the market. Recent reports have also linked them with Manu Kone and Teun Koopmeiners. However, the opportunity to reunite Arne Slot with Timber might be appealing.
It will be interesting to see if Timber becomes the top midfield target for Liverpool in the final days of the summer transfer window. However, convincing Feyenoord to sell a pivotal figure this late in the window might be a tall order, even for Arne Slot.
