Chelsea outcast Armando Broja’s move to newly promoted Ipswich Town is in danger of collapsing.
Armando Broja was closing in on a move to Ipswich Town but according to a report from The Guardian, the Chelsea academy graduate’s move to Portman Road is in danger of collapsing. Both clubs had agreed on a loan move for the Albanian international but recent developments suggest it might not go through.
Broja joined the Blues back in 2009 and went up the ranks at some pace. He has been a part of their first team setup over the last two seasons. But, hasn’t been able to break into the starting XI as he has struggled with injuries and hasn’t been able to make the best out of the limited opportunities that he has had.
After struggling for minutes in the first half of last season at Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old striker was loaned out to Fulham. But, even that didn’t go according to plan for him. While he still has four years left on his deal at Chelsea, he doesn’t seem to be an important part of their plans moving ahead.
Broja’s move to Ipswich Town could collapse
Broja has been exiled from the first team as their new manager Enzo Maresca doesn’t count on him. He has been informed to find a new club and newly promoted Ipswich Town have been working on a deal to sign him. Kieran McKenna’s side are looking to add more quality to the final third and they feel the Chelsea outcast can help their cause.
After weeks of work, McKenna’s team had agreed on a deal with the Blues to sign the Albanian international on a season-long loan. The London club agreed to sanction a temporary exit with the condition that Ipswich would have to sign him for £30 million if they managed to survive in the English top flight.
While both clubs have already reached a common ground, the move has dragged on and there is a serious threat that it could collapse. Everything is clear from Chelsea’s end but Ipswich seem to be having some problem with paperwork. The move is not off yet but the newly promoted outfit have started looking at alternatives.
