According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Samu Omorodion might soon move to the Premier League even though his move to Chelsea has expired. Intermediaries have offered Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Manchester City the chance to sign the 20-year-old Olympics 2024 gold medalist from Atletico Madrid before the summer transfer window shuts down.
The rise of Samu Omorodion
Samu Omorodion is one of the best young prospects in La Liga. A native of Melilla, he graduated from the youth division at Granada CF before Atletico Madrid snapped him last summer. The Colchoneros immediately loaned the Spaniard to Deportivo Alaves, and he enjoyed a solid debut La Liga season.
The 20-year-old turned out 35 times for Deportivo Alaves while chipping in with eight goals and one assist. Omorodion’s performances for the Basque outfit earned him a spot in Spain’s squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the country winning the gold medal. However, the youngster might leave Atletico Madrid without playing a game, with intermediaries offering him to Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
Premier League beckons?
Arsenal can do with a striker of Samu Omorodion’s qualities amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Eddie Nketiah. The Englishman is closing in on joining Nottingham Forest. So, the Spanish striker is a viable option for Arsenal. As for Aston Villa, they have mulled over signing the Atletico Madrid prospect.
Aston Villa’s interest in Samu Omorodion is understandable. While Jhon Duran has resurrected his fortunes in the last few days, the Villans need a deeper squad to compete on four fronts. As for Liverpool, they might not need the Olympics 2024 gold medalist, considering Arne Slot has five top-class attackers in his squad.
