Raheem Sterling wants Premier League stay amid exit links

Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling wants to continue in the Premier League amidst interest from clubs in the Middle East.

Raheem Sterling’s future has been up in the air as he is no longer a part of Chelsea’s plans moving ahead. The English international is keen on a move away from the London club but according to Kaveh Solhekol via Sky Sports, the former Liverpool winger wants to stay in the Premier League.

Sterling was a part of the Liverpool youth setup back in the day. He played for their first team for around three years before joining rivals Manchester City in 2015. The English winger grew in stature at City and became an integral part of their first team. He played a big part in their success over the years before leaving the club in 2022.

The 29-year-old winger was Chelsea’s first major signing under their new ownership group Clearlake Capital, led by Todd Boehly. Sterling has done a decent job for the Blues over the last two seasons as he has featured in 81 matches and has contributed towards 31 goals (19 goals, 12 assists).

Sterling does not have a future at Chelsea

While the Englishman was an integral part of Chelsea’s first team until last season and still has three years left on his deal, the former Liverpool star is not a part of Enzo Marseca’s plans moving ahead. The Italian tactician does not count on the English winger and has informed him that he won’t get much game time if he chooses to continue at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling wants to revive himself and once again play for his country. As a result, he is ready to part ways with the Blues in search of regular first-team action amid his links with Juventus. However, his priority is to continue in the Premier League. While there is interest in his services from Saudi Arabia, the player has no intentions of leaving Europe.

His family is well-settled in England, and he does not see any reason to leave the country. He is well aware of the fact that he has no future at Chelsea and is in search of a permanent deal elsewhere. Given the fact that the Englishman is one of the top earners at the West London club, it will be interesting to see if they can find a new club for him in time.
