Liverpool are expected to complete the signing of Valencia shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili before the end of the transfer window.
Liverpool are the only English top-flight club that is yet to sign a player in the ongoing transfer window. But, that could change soon as they are closing in on the services of Giorgi Mamardashvili. According to Deportes COPE Valencia, the Reds have accelerated talks with Valencia for the signature of the Georgian international.
Mamardashvili to leave Valencia?
Mamardashvili made the move to the Spanish club in the summer of 2021 and he hasn’t looked back since. He has established himself as one of the mainstays at Valencia and is considered to be one of the best young keepers around. The 23-year-old’s exceptional performances at Euro 2024 have resulted in significant interest from across Europe.
While he still has three years left on his deal, the player is keen on a move to a bigger club. Valencia are also ready to cash in on the Georgian sensation and have already signed a replacement in Stole Dimitrievski.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been working on a potential deal for some time. The Reds already have Alisson Becker in their squad and he will continue being their number one for the time being. But, the Merseyside club want to prepare for the long run with the Brazilian already 31 and clubs from the Middle East willing to break the bank for his services.
Mamardashvili to join Liverpool this summer
They have identified Mamardashvili as an ideal long-term replacement for Becker and want to complete his signing before the end of the window. Arne Slot’s team have accelerated negotiations with the Spanish club for the services of the young goalkeeper. Both clubs are closing in on a fixed fee with other crucial details still missing.
They are looking to initially loan him out to be a Premier League to ensure he gets enough minutes before he eventually takes over from the Brazilian. Bournemouth seem ready to help the Reds out by signing the youngster on a temporary basis.
While the Reds were also working on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi, things haven’t worked out for him. But, according to Football Insider, Mamardashvili will most likely be joining the Reds before the transfer deadline. Both clubs are in negotiations and an agreement could be reached soon.
