Real Betis will compete with fellow La Liga top-four contenders Girona and Real Sociedad for 19-year-old Barcelona prodigy Vitor Roque.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Vitor Roque is the subject of interest from Real Betis. The disgruntled Barcelona prodigy will likely leave the Blaugrana in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, other La Liga clubs like Girona and Real Sociedad are also keen on signing the 19-year-old versatile attacker.
Vitor Roque and his Barcelona frustrations
Vitor Roque would have never imagined his fortunes dwindling the way they have only a few months after completing a dream move to Barcelona. The teenage sensation snubbed many other European bigwigs to join the Blaugrana, with the club coughing up a sizeable sum to land him.
However, Xavi Hernandez barely utilised the 19-year-old attacking prodigy in the second half of the 2023/24 season. The youngster has managed only 353 minutes of game time across 16 outings thus far for Barcelona while scoring two goals. So, it is hardly surprising that he faces an uncertain future at the Catalan club midway through the summer transfer window.
Widespread reports have linked the versatile Brazilian attacker with clubs in England, Italy, France, and Portugal. However, a move across La Liga might be on the cards, with Real Betis, Girona, and Real Sociedad vying for Vitor Roque’s services in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Move across La Liga on the cards?
Real Betis can do with a player like Vitor Roque. The two strikers on the Andalusian club’s books are on the wrong side of 30, explaining why Manuel Pellegrini might want the disgruntled Barcelona attacker. However, Real Betis will not be alone in the race to secure his services.
Girona’s interest in the 19-year-old is understandable. The White and Reds have lost Artem Dovbyk, who has moved to Italy. So, the Barcelona forward can be a solid addition to the Girona first team. As for Real Sociedad, Umar Sadiq faces an uncertain future at the Reale Arena, meaning Roque can be a viable solution to replace him.
With the teenage prospect not having a shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, his short and frustrating stint with Barcelona should end soon. It will be interesting to see where he plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.
