Chelsea will pay an all-inclusive €55 million fee for Joao Felix, as Atletico Madrid’s deal for Conor Gallagher could conclude as well.
According to Ruben Uria, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have a broad agreement for the transfers of Joao Felix and Conor Gallagher in separate deals. The Blues are set to pay a €55 million package for the Portuguese star, while the Spanish giants’ move for Gallagher has not changed.
Joao Felix and Conor Gallagher’s deals close
Chelsea are eager to make good on their deal for Joa Felix from Atletico Madrid, although there has been confidence after a prolonged period of discussions. The 24-year-old in-demand attacker came to their list after the move for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion broke down.
Atletico Madrid had agreed on a deal for Conor Gallagher, and while everything was in place, the club did not sign their part of the contract, and the move went to a standstill. The midfielder has since returned to London as Chelsea are still finding a solution for his transfer to Madrid. There were reports stating the Blues might also consider keeping Gallagher.
Chelsea and Atletico are closing in on agreements for both players as talks have progressed over the last few days. The Blues are desperate to sell the midfielder for financial reasons, and to keep that deal alive, they have chased Felix, even if they have to pay more than the sum previously agreed for Amorodion.
As per Ruben Uria, the two clubs are close to an agreement, with suggestions that Chelsea will pay a €55 million package for Felix. In turn, Atletico’s original deal for Gallagher, worth around €42 million, will stay the same, with the double deal inching closer.
Felix’s deal financially beneficial for Atletico Madrid
As per Ruben Uria, Atletico Madrid will be making a decent profit on the sale of Felix despite their original outlay on the 24-year-old in-demand attacker has been more than double of what Chelsea are paying. Taking amortisation into account, the book value of the player is lower than the €55 million they are receiving from the Blues.
On the other hand, Chelsea will make a pure profit of €42 million with the sale of Gallagher, and some suggest they might have used the projected money on new transfers, such as the one for Pedro Neto. Overall, the double deal will benefit both sides equally, with Atletico achieving their objective of offloading the unwanted Felix for a book profit.
