Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Andre Almeida, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a bid to sign the 24-year-old.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Andre Almeida has gained popularity in the Premier League midway through the summer transfer window. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the 24-year-old. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers are mulling over a bid to sign him from La Liga club Valencia.
Who is Andre Almeida?
Andre Almeida has been one of the most promising young midfielders in La Liga since joining Valencia from Vitoria de Guimaraes in August 2022. A native of Guimaraes, he spent his formative years with Vitoria de Guimaraes before breaking into the Portuguese club’s first-team squad several years ago.
The 24-year-old has turned out over 50 times thus far for Valencia while chipping in with four goals and six assists. Almeida’s versatility and progress have captured the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen, with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham setting their sights on him. In addition, Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a bid.
Premier League move on the cards?
Aston Villa’s eagerness to secure Andre Almeida’s services is understandable. The Villans hold a long-standing interest in the Portuguese midfielder, having tracked him since last year. While they have already landed Amadou Onana, Aston Villa must sign a replacement for Nicolo Zaniolo, bringing Almeida into the picture.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s interest in Andre Almeida makes sense. The Magpies have parted ways with Elliot Anderson this summer, leaving a spot open in the midfield department at St. James’ Park. So, the Valencia midfielder is an option worth considering for Newcastle United.
As for Tottenham, they have parted ways with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has joined AS Monaco on a season-long loan deal this summer. So, the versatile Almeida is a viable target for Tottenham. However, the three Premier League clubs face stiff competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Black Country outfit will soon present a bid to sign the 24-year-old from La Liga club Valencia this summer. It is unclear how much Los Che will demand to part ways with the Portuguese midfielder. However, with Javi Guerra’s move to Atletico Madrid collapsing, Almeida might be available.
