Tottenham rival Everton in Amir Richardson chase

Tottenham are reportedly all set to battle it out with Everton for the services of Stade Reims sensation Amir Richardson.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, Tottenham have entered the race for the services of Amir Richardson as they look to reinforce their midfield. Spurs are all set to battle Everton, who have been keen on signing the Moroccan international for some time now.

Richardson joined Stade Reims from Le Havre AC in the summer of 2022. While it was an initial loan deal, the move became permanent the following summer. The 22-year-old midfielder had a breakthrough season last time out as he was involved in 28 first-team matches and he even contributed towards four goals.

While Amir Richardson still has three years left on his contract, multiple top European clubs are keen on signing him. While only a few weeks are left in the transfer window, the Moroccan international could still be on the move.

Everton and Tottenham to battle for Richardson

Everton are one of the clubs who are keen on signing the young midfield star as he possesses many of the attributes that Sean Dyche is looking for. He can play as a defensive midfielder as well as in a more advanced role if needed. He makes his physical presence known and is not easy to get past.

The Toffees feel Richardson could be an ideal replacement for Amadou Onana, who has joined Aston Villa in a £50 million move. While Everton are keen on his signature, Tottenham have also entered the race for his services. The North London club are ready to rival the Merseyside club.

While Tottenham’s priority is to sign a world-class striker to lead their attack next season, they are also looking to bring in a new midfield following the departure of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. There is room in Ange Postecoglou’s team for someone with the capabilities of Richardson, who can feature in multiple roles but is best known to be a box-to-box midfielder.

The report suggests the 22-year-old could be available for a bargain fee of just £8.5 million. But, given the number of clubs that are interested in him following his heroics at the Olympics for Morocco, a bidding war could significantly increase the final fee.
