Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal worth €95 million with Manchester City for the services of Julian Alvarez, personal terms still left.
According to David Ornstein, Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signature of Julian Alvarez. They have been working on a deal to sign the Manchester City star for some time now and have finally struck an agreement worth a massive €95 million. While both clubs have agreed to the transfer, Atletico are yet to finalise personal terms with the player.
Julian Alvarez to leave Man City?
Alvarez made quite a name for himself while coming up the ranks at River Plate. His impressive rise caught the attention of City who signed him in the winter of 2022. He stayed on loan at the Argentine club for the next six months before joining Pep Guardiola’s team ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The 24-year-old striker has gone from strength to strength since joining Manchester City. He has featured in 103 matches for them and has contributed towards 54 goals (36 goals, 18 assists). Julian Alvarez was involved in over 50 matches last season and contributed towards 32 goals.
While he still has four years left on his contract at City, Alvarez seems keen on making a move away. He has been getting a lot of opportunities at City but the majority of his appearances have come out of position and as long as Erling Haaland is at the club, the Argentine World Cup winner is unlikely to be a regular starter.
Atletico Madrid strike a deal worth €95 million for Alvarez
Atletico Madrid are well aware of the situation, and they have been working on a deal to bring him to Madrid for some time now. With Alvaro Morata joining AC Milan and Antoine Griezmann already 33, Diego Simeone is on the lookout for a player who can lead their attack going ahead.
He considered Julian Alvarez to be an ideal fit as he can play anywhere in attack and has an eye for goal. They have been in negotiations with City for some time now and have finally reached a full agreement with them.
Atletico Madrid are all set to pay €95 million including add-ons to sign the former River Plate star. The 24-year-old is all set to be a record sale for Manchester City but for that to happen, he first needs to agree personal terms with Atletico Madrid.
