Manchester City ready to open talks with Ederson Moraes regarding new deal

Manchester City are reportedly keen to tie down Ederson Moraes to a new contract as his Saudi dream falls apart.

Manchester City are preparing to enter contract negotiations with their star goalkeeper, Ederson Moraes. According to HITC, there are no lingering issues with the Brazilian, and talks are planned to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium. The Premier League champions had already begun discussions with Ederson before the summer, recognising the importance of securing his services as his current contract has just two years remaining.

Saudi Pro League Temptation

Ederson was considering a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, where he was poised to become the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world. Both Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr showed strong interest and made substantial offers.

However, Manchester City demanded a £40 million transfer fee, which neither club was willing to meet. Al-Nassr instead signed Brazilian goalkeeper Bento, and Al-Ittihad acquired Predrag Rajkovic from RCD Mallorca, effectively ending the immediate threat of Ederson’s departure. With the avenue now closed, it is in City and Ederson’s best interests to renew their relationship.

Commitment to Manchester City

With the move to Saudi Arabia off the table, Manchester City are now focusing on securing Ederson’s future at the club. Since joining from SL Benfica in 2017, Ederson has been pivotal in the club’s success under Pep Guardiola.

The Premier League champions view him as the best goalkeeper in the world and are prepared to offer him a new contract that would make him one of the highest-paid keepers in Europe. City are confident that the Brazilian will see his future at the Etihad and are hopeful of reaching a new agreement soon.

Ederson’s presence as the last line of defence has been fundamental to Manchester City’s defensive strength and overall success. His performance and leadership on the field have made him an invaluable asset to the team. By securing a new deal, City not only retain a world-class goalkeeper but also ensure continuity and stability in their defensive lineup.
