Ederson Moraes, Kevin De Bruyne, and Julian Alvarez are all reportedly unhappy under Pep Guardiola, as the trio could seek moves this summer.
According to Football Insider, three important Manchester City stars are reportedly unhappy under Pep Guardiola. The players in question are Ederson Moraes, Kevin De Bruyne, and Julian Alvarez, with the latter likely to prove the club’s biggest problem.
Manchester City trio unhappy under Pep Guardiola
Manchester City’s US tour has not proven as successful as one would have imagined, with the club failing to win any of their games. To complicate things further, three of their major stars, Ederson Moraes, Kevin De Bruyne, and Julian Alvarez, are having problems in the background. The trio is reportedly unhappy under Pep Guardiola.
Al-Ittihad are keen on Ederson, and Guardiola recently suggested the goalkeeper had to make his decision ahead of the new season. The Brazilian is looking for a new challenge and reportedly has an agreement on a lucrative contract offer from the Saudi Pro League club. He wants his future sorted and feels Guardiola might be blocking a move with the club seeking a considerable transfer fee, which is also proving problematic.
The De Bruyne situation is a bit tricky. He also has Saudi interest, with suggestions that Al-Ittihad have cooled their interest lately. Despite what seems like a setback, the report suggests, the Belgian is not happy with Guardiola’s public comments stating the midfielder will stay at the club. Talks are expected between the two parties in the coming days, as there is a chance he might leave.
Whether there is mutiny between the Manchester City star man and the manager remains to be seen, as things could get clarified in the coming period. De Bruyne might also feel the level of offers he has from Saudi Arabia may not be an option in the future, as things could change next summer, meaning he could also push for a transfer.
Julian Alvarez’s situation is more complex
Julian Alvarez has been in the news since the beginning of the transfer window, as he had expressed his desire to leave Manchester City. Despite being one of the most used players last season, the Argentine Copa America champion feels he’s not considered an essential star under Guardiola, who prefers Erling Haaland in the central striker role. Manchester City reportedly wants £40 million-plus, although they could demand more.
Atletico Madrid are also keen and ready to offer Joao Felix in exchange, as Alvarez is the biggest problem for Manchester City to deal with. The level of importance he seeks in the squad cannot be guaranteed, as Guardiola might continue to prefer Haaland in the central role. Hence, the Argentine could depart, and the blame could fall on the manager.
