Bournemouth are confident of keeping Dominic Solanke beyond the summer window despite growing interest in the striker.
According to HITC, Dominic Solanke is expected to stay at Bournemouth despite credible interest in the striker. The forward has a hefty release clause that could be triggered by any of the big six clubs, which could prove a stumbling block for suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea.
Bournemouth to keep Dominic Solanke?
Dominic Solanke put himself on the radars of big-six clubs following a terrific season at Bournemouth last time out. The striker scored 19 times in the Premier League and has since attracted plenty of interest. Cherries owner Bill Foley recently suggested the striker will stay at the club and also confirmed the hefty £65 million release clause in his contract.
Foley said, “I believe Dom is going to be with us this coming year. “He has a release clause, which is very expensive. We shouldn’t reveal anything about the contract, but that area [reported £65m] sounds roughly correct. I guess if someone comes for him, we are going to have to replace him.”
“We have two or three candidates that we have lined up, but I believe Dom will be here next year – and I believe he is going to score 21 or 22 goals.”
The £65 million release clause could prove problematic, as Chelsea were reportedly priced out when they considered signing their former striker. The Blues are keen on landing a new frontman, and Victor Osimhen’s name is mentioned, although the Napoli striker has a much higher release clause in his deal with the Italian giants.
Tottenham are also present in the race to sign Dominic Solanke and have stepped up efforts in a big way lately. Ange Postecoglou needs a new striker and could prioritise a No.9 over a winger before the season begins. However, there are doubts whether Spurs will commit to landing the £65 million-rated Bournemouth striker.
Hence, Bournemouth are confident of keeping hold of their star striker, who manager Andoni Iraola will see as necessary ahead of the new season. Yet, bids from Tottenham and Chelsea cannot be ruled out, as there are still chances things could move for Solanke.
Solanke’s stance revealed
Solanke signed a new deal last September until 2027, meaning Bournemouth are in a good position should they negotiate with either of those interested sides. The Cherries are helpless should any of those clubs trigger his release clause, as they might not sell him for less.
As for Solanke, he dreams of a switch to a big six club, although the chances of him forcing a move through are slim to none. The striker seems happy to continue under Iraola for another season, although he would support a transfer if any interested sides can convince Bournemouth.
