Aston Villa recently approached Manchester City to enquire about 21-year-old highly-rated prospect Oscar Bobb, with the Premier League champions rejecting the move.
According to an update by Purple Panel, Oscar Bobb is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are continuing their relentless recruitment drive heading into the final month of the summer transfer window and approached Manchester City to discuss the 21-year-old prospect. However, the Premier League champions have rejected the enquiry.
Who is Oscar Bobb?
Oscar Bobb is the latest highly-rated prospect to emerge from Manchester City’s much-revered youth division. The academy has produced elite talent like Phil Foden, while prodigies like Rico Henry and Bobb have risen in prominence in the last few seasons at the Etihad.
A native of Oslo, the youngster began his youth career in his homeland before embarking on a short stint with Valerenga. The 21-year-old has been with Manchester City since 2019 and made exponential progress in the Premier League club’s academy before breaking into the first-team squad at the onset of the 2023/24 season.
While the Norwegian international has not racked up a lot of game time at Manchester City, he has turned out 26 times thus far while chipping in with two goals. Meanwhile, Oscar Bobb’s progress at Manchester City has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa.
Can Aston Villa sign Bobb?
Aston Villa’s interest in Oscar Bobb is hardly surprising. The Villans have been scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the final month of the summer transfer window after parting ways with Moussa Diaby, who has joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in a surprise move this month.
So, several candidates have emerged on Aston Villa’s radar, with Bobb being a viable target. The West Midlands outfit thus approached Manchester City to submit an enquiry for the 21-year-old prospect. However, the Premier League champions have turned Aston Villa down.
Manchester City gave a curt response to Aston Villa, which suggests they do not want to part ways with the Norwegian international anytime soon and envision a bright long-term future for him. So, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the next target for Aston Villa.
