Arsenal make contact to sign Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen could be a star for Manchester United.

Arsenal have returned with a fresh contract for Victor Osimhen, with the Nigerian striker waiting to leave Napoli in this window.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal have revisited their interest in Victor Osimhen, as Mikel Arteta might have re-entered the striker market for a recruit. The Nigerian wants to leave Napoli for a new challenge, with Chelsea also keen on the striker they have admired for a long time.

Arsenal back in for Victor Osimhen?

In the last few days, chatter about Arsenal returning to the striker market has picked momentum. Mikel Arteta had wanted a centre-forward earlier, but in recent weeks, that necessity has somewhat died down as the Gunners remain focused on other areas of their squad.

Since the Riccardo Calafiori move was more or less confirmed, there have been reports suggesting they might be revisiting some of their older targets. Arsenal are linked with Viktor Gyokeres again, while they may have revisited their interest in Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal have reportedly made a fresh enquiry for Osimhen after his move to PSG failed to materialise. The Parisians have been the only club so far who have shown concrete interest in the Serie A striker; Napoli’s asking price of between €100 million and €130 million has squandered his chances to join the French champions.

Whether Arsenal will be prepared to pay as much remains to be seen and doubtful, as they may not have the means to produce that level of funds for one player in this window. Either way, there’s significant interest in Osimhen ahead of the next few weeks, with Chelsea also being a big admirer.

Chelsea looking at Osimhen again?

Much like Arsenal, Chelsea have held an interest in the striker, who will demand more than his current €10 million-a-year salary at Napoli. In addition to the huge transfer fees Napoli is demanding, it would not be seen as a sustainable deal by those in charge of the Blues.

Yet, there are reports that Chelsea have offered players, including Romelu Lukaku, in exchange for Osimhen, although Napoli remains adamant about their demands. They do like the Belgian and consider him their key target in replacing the Nigerians, but they would still prefer to sign him on a separate deal. Hence, there are some significant doubts about whether Osimhen will get his big move out of Italy this summer as the wait goes on.
