Juventus winger Federico Chiesa prefers joining Manchester United amidst interest from rivals Chelsea and Tottenham.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United is the preferred destination for Federico Chiesa if he does end up leaving Juventus in the upcoming transfer window. While he is all set to hold talks with Thiago Motta regarding his future at the Turin-based club, a move away looks the most likely outcome.
Chiesa’s current contract runs out next summer. Since the Old Lady made a significant investment to bring him to the club from Fiorentina, they cannot afford to let him leave for free. Juventus only have two options, either to extend his stay or cash in on him this summer.
Chiesa to leave Juventus, Tottenham and Chelsea linked
Contract renewal talks have not really gone according to plan as there is a clear difference between the two parties. The Serie A club want to lower his wages and while the player wants to be a central part of their project, the club are not willing to guarantee him that role. While Motta wants him to continue at the club, he does not see the Italian international as a key player.
As a result, Federico Chiesa has asked his agent Ramadani to look for better opportunities elsewhere. With the player available for a fee of around €25-30 million, there is a significant amount of interest in him from across Europe.
Chelsea and Tottenham are two clubs keen on signing the 26-year-old as they look to add more firepower to their attack. The Blues want to strengthen the left flank, while Ange Postecoglou seeks more options out wide at Spurs. Chiesa’s agent is currently in London and he has been in contact with both clubs.
Manchester United receive boost in Chiesa pursuit
While the two London clubs seem to be well-placed to sign him, the Italian winger prefers joining Manchester United. He wants to play for the Red Devils who are interested in having him in their ranks. Manchester United do have a massive advantage as the player prefers joining them. But they might have to offload a few of their players before making a move for him.
Despite the asking price being around €25-30 million, Juventus would be willing to negotiate a lower price as they will be saving around €12 million gross from his wages for the final year of his deal.
