Ajax, Anderlecht vying for Christian Eriksen, Manchester United demanding €5 million

Ajax and Anderlecht are keen on securing Christian Eriksen, with Manchester United ready to offload the experienced midfielder for a modest fee.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are ready to sell Christian Eriksen for a modest fee, with Anderlecht and Ajax keen. The 32-year-old may not have a place at Old Trafford in the upcoming season, with the club willing to offload him for around €5 million.

Is Christian Eriksen up for sale?

Manchester United made a calculated decision with the free transfer of Christian Eriksen two years ago. But the move has not made a big difference in their side apart from the first half of his debut season. The Danish international has not been at his best but did a job whenever called upon.

He has been a regular under Erik ten Hag over that period, while last season, he might have played more than he might have deserved, largely owing to Mason Mount’s constant absence through fitness issues. Meanwhile, his contract expires in 2025, which does give Manchester United an opportunity to consider some offers coming their way for the 32-year-old.

Anderlecht and Ajax are keen on the Manchester United playmaker, with the Red Devils reportedly demanding €5 million to sell him. INEOS are aware of Ajax making loan approaches for Christian Eriksen, as they are not willing to sanction such a deal as they do not want to move the player for free next summer.

Anderlecht have held talks with the player’s camp. They may have to wait to hear back from the player about his decision, as Eriksen is reportedly keeping his options open, which might eventually depend on what his suitors are able to offer.

No Manchester United futute for Eriksen

Eriksen will be aware of the many moves Manchester United are making to bolster their midfield through the transfer window. Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence in that midfield, as well as the Red Devils’ chase of Manuel Ugarte, will all but keep Eriksen on the bench for most parts of the coming season.

Hence, Eriksen does not have a fixed place in ten Hag’s plans from this point onwards, which may see him leave this summer. He may not get the kind of salary he draws at Old Trafford, which will certainly make him think twice about leaving the club, meaning there are chances that Eriksen might end up going on a free next summer should he run his contract down at the club.
