West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Jhon Duran

West Ham United are reportedly in advanced talks with Aston Villa to sign Colombian attacking sensation Jhon Duran.

According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham United are closing in on the services of Jhon Duran as they are in advanced talks with Aston Villa. They consider him to be their priority target to revive their attack and as per Pipe Sierra, the Hammers already have a verbal agreement in place with Unai Emery’s team regarding a £35 million deal.

Duran made a name for himself while playing for the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer and earned a move to Villa in the winter of 2023. Since making the move to England, he has been involved in 49 matches and has found the back of the net on eight occasions. The 20-year-old was on the pitch for just over 1,100 minutes last season and did put in some impressive shifts.

While he still has four years left on his deal with the club, his future has been uncertain for a while now. Emery doesn’t consider him to be a part of their plans moving ahead. Aston Villa have been keen on cashing in on the youngster as it will help them reinvest it in bolstering their squad ahead of an important campaign where they will compete in the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea target Duran set to join Aston Villa

Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Colombian international. The Blues want to add more firepower to their attack after struggling to score goals last time out. They consider Duran to be a great long-term option and were keen on investing in him.

While they were close to signing him, the Blues reportedly took a back seat after learning about the player’s wage demands. It allowed other clubs to take the lead in the race for his signature. West Ham seem to have made the most out of it as they are now in pole position to complete his signing.

They were already in talks with Aston Villa and as per the report, those talks are now in advanced stages. Meanwhile, Sierra has reported that Duran will soon be a new West Ham United player as they already have a verbal agreement worth around £35 million to acquire his services. Once the documentations are taken care of, the deal will be finalised.
