Scottish giants Rangers are reportedly closing in on signing Hannibal Mejbri, with the talks to sign the 21-year-old Manchester United prospect this summer advancing.
According to a report by African Foot, Rangers and FC Copenhagen are interested in signing Hannibal Mejbri in the summer transfer window. Both European regulars have made their offers for the 21-year-old Manchester United prospect. However, the Scottish giants are closing in on landing the young midfielder, with talks between all parties advancing.
How has Hannibal Mejbri fared at Manchester United?
Hannibal Mejbri has struggled to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Manchester United since breaking into the senior setup a few years ago. A native of Ivry-sur-Seine, he began his youth career in France, passing through the academies at Paris FC, AC Boulogne-Billancourt, and AS Monaco before joining Manchester United in August 2019.
The 21-year-old was one of the brightest young prospects in the youth division at Manchester United but has not translated that into success in the first team. Mejbri has managed only 13 appearances thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with one goal.
The French-born midfielder has picked Tunisia as his national side and has more appearances for the African nation than Manchester United. Meanwhile, after struggling during his loan spell at Sevilla in the second half of the 2023/24 season, the youngster faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. However, another loan exit might be on the cards, with Rangers vying for his signature.
Set for a Scottish loan?
Rangers’ interest in Hannibal Mejbri is understandable. The Scottish giants have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window after losing John Lundstram as a free agent. So, the Manchester United prospect has emerged as a viable target for the European regulars.
Rangers and FC Copenhagen are vying for Hannibal Mejbri’s services in the summer transfer window. However, the 21-year-old Manchester United prospect does not want to join the Danish outfit, with the former closing in on signing him.
The report has claimed that talks between the three parties have advanced, with the Tunisian international on the cusp of joining the European regulars. Meanwhile, Manchester United will hope the youngster fares better on his latest loan move.
