Manchester City make offer for Dani Olmo, player wants Barcelona move

Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo, also a target for Barcelona.

According to French journalist Santi Aouna, Manchester City have now submitted an offer for Dani Olmo. However, the 26-year-old Spanish international playmaker is keen on joining Barcelona instead in the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard has been a key player for RB Leipzig and the Spanish national team over the past 12 months. He had an impressive 2023/24 season in the Bundesliga while helping Spain win UEFA Euro 2024 as well. His performances have been outstanding in the Euros this summer, and it is not surprising that the top clubs want to sign him.

Manchester City need a versatile attacking midfielder like the 26-year-old, who is capable of slotting into the central areas as well as on the flanks. Players like Jack Grealish have been quite underwhelming, and Manchester City need to bring in an upgrade. The Spanish international midfielder would have been a superb addition.

He would have added goals, creativity and technical ability in the final third. It seems that the 26-year-old midfielder is keen on a return to his homeland, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona can get the deal done. The Blaugrana are going through financial difficulties, and they might struggle to afford the 26-year-old.

Can Manchester City convince Dani Olmo to join them?

Manchester City certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done, and they will be hoping to outmuscle Barcelona in the race for Dani Olmo. City are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they have a proven track record of winning major trophies consistently. Although Barcelona will be a more attractive destination for Spanish players, Manchester City are very much in the race and they will hope that Pep Guardiola can tilt things in their favour.

The former Barcelona manager is widely regarded as the best of his generation, and any player would be tempted to work with him given the opportunity. The Spanish international midfielder has the physical and technical attributes to succeed in English football, and he could be a key player for Manchester City if he joins the club.

Manchester City will be hoping to challenge for major trophies next season, and they need to keep improving their squad to stay in touch with the elite clubs. However, with the 26-year-old preferring a Barcelona return, Manchester City face a tall order to land him.
