Gianluigi Donnarumma open to joining Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have received a major boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

According to a report from TuttoSport, Paris Saint-Germain mainstay Gianluigi Donnarumma is open to a move to Manchester City. The English giants are looking to reinforce the goalkeeping position and have their eyes set on the Italian who is attracted and flattered by City’s interest in his services.

Ederson has been the Premier League champions’ undisputed number one since joining them from Benfica in 2017. He has done wonders for them and has been integral to all the success they have had domestically as well as in Europe.

But, he seems keen on a new adventure amidst interest from the Saudi Pro League. As per reports, clubs from the Middle East are willing to make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world. The player is quite interested in making the move and City won’t stand in his way as long as their demands a met.

Donnarumma to replace Ederson at City?

In a situation where the Brazilian international leaves, City will need to bring in a world-class goalkeeper to replace him. They seem to have already identified Donnarumma as the ideal candidate to take over from Ederson.

The Italian international has been PSG’s number one since joining them in 2021 on a free transfer after leaving AC Milan. While the 25-year-old still has two years left on his deal at the French club, he has already held talks over a potential renewal before heading into Euro 2024.

While PSG don’t seem interested in negotiating his departure, the report suggests things could change if City submit an offer worth €60 million for his services and are ready to offer him €12 million per season (Ederson’s current wage) compared to the €10 million that he earns in France.

So far, City have only enquired about his availability and nothing concrete has taken place. If they do make a move for him, Guardiola’s team will have an advantage as the Italian goalkeeper is flattered by their interest and is keen on playing in the Premier League.
