Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin in the summer transfer window.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea could use Kepa Arrizabalaga in the deal to sign 25-year-old Real Madrid star Andriy Lunin. He had plenty of opportunities at the Spanish club last season because of the injury to Thibaut Courtois.
The Ukrainian international impressed with his performances and helped Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League and La Liga. Naturally, his performances have attracted the attention of top clubs, and Chelsea are hoping to sign him up.
The Blues signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer. But they are unhappy with his performances. Sanchez has been underwhelming, and he needs to be replaced. Chelsea are looking to bring in a quality goalkeeper, and Lunin has certainly proven himself at the highest level. He should be a quality acquisition for the Blues if they can get the deal done.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid would require a quality backup keeper before they can let Lunin leave. So, Chelsea are hoping to use Kepa Arrizabalaga in the deal. Kepa was on loan at Real Madrid recently, and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants are willing to accept him in a deal for the Ukrainian.
Kepa does not have a future at Chelsea, and it would be ideal for him to move on and join another club. Real Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world, and the opportunity to join them attracts him. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can execute the transfer before the window closes.
Andriy Lunin needs to leave Real Madrid
The 25-year-old will look to play regularly at this stage of his career. Now that Courtois has returned from his injury blow, Lunin is unlikely to get regular game time at the Spanish club. It would make sense for him to move on in search of regular playing time do not stop if Chelsea can provide him with game-time assurances, he is likely to be attracted to the idea of moving to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to join them can be quite attractive for most players. Lunin is yet to enter the peak of his career, and he could give his best years to the club if he joins them this summer. Chelsea need to improve their squad if they are serious about competing with Arsenal and Manchester City. Signing quality players like Lunin will certainly help them improve.
