Manchester United, West Ham United initiate discussions to sign Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United and West Ham United are in talks with Bayern Munich as they look to sign Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United and West Ham United are all set to battle it out for the services of Noussair Mazraoui. Both Premier League clubs have held initial talks with Bayern Munich as they explore an opportunity to sign the right-back.

Mazraoui came up the ranks at Ajax and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining the German giants in the summer of 2022. The Moroccan international has only featured in 55 matches over the last two seasons. He has missed a significant amount of games because of injuries.

Last season, he featured in 29 matches and racked up less than 2000 minutes. While the Moroccan international still has two years left on his deal with Bayern Munich, they do not seem to count on him for the long run. Vincent Kompany’s team are willing to sanction his departure this summer.

Manchester United, West Ham want to sign Mazraoui

Manchester United and West Ham United are both keen on securing Noussair Mazraoui’s signature. Both clubs are need to reinforce the full-back department for different reasons. Vladimir Coufal is the only out-and-out right back in the Hammers’ squad, and even his future is not 100% certain. As a result, they want to bring a top-quality right-back.

As far as Manchester United are concerned, Diogo Dalot is expected to continue at the club but the same cannot be said about Aaron Wan-Bissaka. As a result, they are looking at Mazraoui as someone who can help ensure they have enough depth. Since the Bayern full-back is capable of either flank, he could be an ideal addition given the injury record of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Bayern Munich want €20-25 million for Mazraoui

Both English clubs have already held their first concrete talks with Bayern Munich about signing the 26-year-old, as he is their priority target. Meanwhile, Noussair Mazraoui is also keen on playing in the English top flight. Moving to Manchester United could allow him to reunite with former boss Erik ten Hag.

Bayern are willing to cash in on the Moroccan international. While they were initially looking for a fee of €30 million, they are now pushing to get around €20-25 million. However, Plettenberg feels €15-20 million will be a more realistic price for a player who only has two years left on his deal.
