West Ham United well-placed to sign Reiss Nelson

West Ham United are reportedly progressing in talks for Reiss Nelson, with the player likely to consider the move to better his career.

According to Football Insider, West Ham is progressing in its pursuit of Reiss Nelson. The club is engaged in talks with Arsenal about the winger. The Gunners’ homegrown star is open to the move to the London Stadium, which he feels is good for his career.

West Ham closing in on Reiss Nelson

Reiss Nelson is one of those Arsenal stars who has enormous potential for the future but may not be part of Mikel Arteta’s plans. The Gunners boss is open to letting the winger leave, for it will allow him to get more funds from the sale and help him build his squad with new stars.

As for Nelson, there was a point in the 2022-23 season when he did show signs that he could be a productive part of the squad, but soon his power waned. The winner against Bournemouth remains his most recent significant contribution, as last season, he was only a sporadic participant.

West Ham are in pole position for Nelson, with the London side constantly in dialogue with the Gunners about the winger. Arsenal is eager to sell, with a £20-25 million price mooted for the attacker. Nelson’s versatility around the front three allows him to provide multiple options to any side, which continues to attract the Hammers in a big way.

Whether they are willing to pay the price that Arsenal want for him remains the question, but multiple chatter around the Gunners suggests that they are unwilling to sell for less. It’s a nominal price tag for a player of his age and potential, while Nelson’s homegrown status also adds much value to the whole transfer.

Nelson wants West Ham to move

Nelson likes the idea of joining the Hammers and has given his green light to the move as he seems likely to leave Arsenal this summer. The Gunners are already in the market for a wide attacker, as Arteta does not rate Nelson in any way ahead of the new season.

Nelson believes this move to the Hammers will benefit his career as he seeks regular playing time rather than regressing at Arsenal. Hence, this move to the London stadium would benefit all parties, including the winger.
