Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United are leading the race for the services of Crystal Palace attacking target Reiss Nelson.
According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, West Ham United are the front-runners for the services of Arsenal graduate Reiss Nelson. The English winger is on the wishlist of multiple Premier League clubs. But the Hammers are in pole position to sign him ahead of next season. The homegrown player has a price tag of £25 million.
Nelson joined Arsenal back in 2007, coming up the ranks at some pace before securing promotion to their first team in 2019. He even had an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord back in the day. While the Englishman has shown great promise in the limited opportunities he has had, the 24-year-old has never got an extended run in the first team.
Reiss Nelson was involved in 23 matches last season, but he was on the pitch for less than 700 minutes. The Arsenal academy graduate penned down a new deal with the club last summer which runs until 2027. However, he could still end up making a move away from the club in search of regular minutes.
Crystal Palace keen on signing Nelson
There is interest in his services from Crystal Palace, who are looking to bolster their attack ahead of next season. The Eagles seek more firepower in the final third and feel the right-winger could be a great addition to their ranks.
Following Michael Olise’s departure, Crystal Palace do need more quality on the flanks and Nelson could be an ideal fit. But, they won’t find it easy to strike a deal for his services as West Ham United are currently leading the race.
West Ham United leading the race to sign Reiss Nelson
Julen Lopetegui and technical director Tim Steidten have been working hard to strengthen their team ahead of the 2024/25 season. They have already added Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme to their group and are now looking to bring Nelson to the club.
West Ham already made progress in their pursuit of the 24-year-old’s services and are believed to be in pole position as they have a full understanding of what needs to be done to reach an agreement with the Gunners. Meanwhile, the player is also keen on making the move to the East London club.
The Hammers seek more competition for places out wide on the flanks and feel Nelson could compete with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus. They will have to fork out around £25 million to sign the 24-year-old and with his contract running until 2027, Arsenal will have the upper hand in negotiations.
