Tottenham in constant contact with Jonathan David

Tottenham are in constant touch with Jonathan David’s camp as Ange Postecoglou wants a prolific finisher on his team.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are putting itself in an excellent position to sign wantaway LOSC LIlle striker Jonathan David this summer. The Canadian is available for sale after entering the final year of his deal with the Ligue 1 club and already has plenty of suitors from the Premier League, like Chelsea and West Ham United.

Tottenham in regular dialogue with Jonathan David

Tottenham are looking at Jonathan David as a potential option to improve their forward line, with the club in constant touch with the Canadian striker’s camp. Spurs are eager to sign a new centre-forward this summer and want that player to arrive well in time before the new campaign begins.

Ange Postecoglou wants some steady roles for his forwards instead of rotating positions of stars like Son Heung-min. He might view the South Korean in his customary role on the left while looking for a prolific goalscorer who can finish off chances. Ideally, the Australian wants an alternative to the misfiring Richarlison, who had another underwhelming season, albeit better than the disastrous debut campaign at Tottenham.

Jonathan David is an interesting name, as Tottenham are reportedly in constant touch with his camp. The Canadian is valued at £25 million by his current side, LOSC Lille, who are keen on selling him. They will not want to lose a player of his quality on a free next season, hence charging a modest fee for an international striker.

Tottenham’s need for a striker might see them explore a move for David, who is available on the cheaper side. They have also shown interest in the move. However, Spurs are not the only side interested in David, as Chelsea and West Ham United are also keen on the £25 million-rated striker.

Chelsea and West Ham are chasing David

Chelsea are still looking for that new striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, and they have been in touch with David’s entourage. The striker’s ready availability after the Copa America will have alerted the Blues, who had him on their radar in previous summers.

West Ham are also keen, as Julen Lopetegui might offer him a good enough project with a starring role. Considering Michail Antonio’s waning powers, David could claim the main centre-forward role at the London Stadium, as this race looks like a three-way battle between the London clubs.
