Martin Braithwaite wants Premier League move amid Everton links

Martin Braithwaite has boosted Everton’s prospects of securing his services in the summer transfer window as he wants to join a Premier League club.

According to a report by Estadio Deportivo, Martin Braithwaite is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a striker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The experienced Danish attacker has now boosted the Merseyside club’s prospects as he wants to move to the Premier League.

Martin Braithwaite and his journey so far

Martin Braithwaite has been a journeyman in the past decade and a half, representing clubs in Denmark, England, France, and Spain. A native of Esbjerg, he graduated from the youth division at Esbjerg fB before moving abroad in August 2013.

The 33-year-old has been with Espanyol in the last two years, joining the Catalan outfit from Barcelona on Deadline Day of the 2022 summer transfer window. While Espanyol suffered relegation from La Liga in the 2022/23 campaign, Braithwaite was instrumental in taking them back to the top flight by amassing 22 goals and two assists in 39 outings in the Segunda Division.

However, the Danish international is a free agent after agreeing to leave Espanyol a few days ago. Martin Braithwaite’s preferred destination is the Premier League, with a few top-flight outfits from England, including Everton, interested in signing him in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Everton’s interest in Martin Braithwaite is understandable. The Toffees have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with several Premier League clubs vying for his signature.

So, it behoves Everton to sign a striker this summer, with Braithwaite emerging as a viable target. The latest development has boosted the Merseyside club’s prospects, with the 33-year-old striker keen on moving to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

With Beto at the peak of his powers and Youssef Chermiti a highly-rated prospect for the future, having an experienced attacker like Braithwaite in the first-team squad should benefit Everton. In addition, his free-agent status helps the Merseyside club’s financials.
