Sporting CP ready to sell Viktor Gyokeres for less than his release clause

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham can sign Sporting CP ace Viktor Gyokeres for less than his £85 million release clause.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, Sporting CP are willing to lower their demands to sanction the departure of their star striker Viktor Gyokeres amidst interest from clubs across Europe. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are all keen on his signature, and they can now sign him for lower than his £85 million release clause.

Gyokeres has had a phenomenal rise in the past 12 months, as the move to Sporting CP from Converty has done wonders for him. In his debut season in the Portuguese top flight, the Swedish international was involved in 50 matches and he ended up scoring 43 goals. The 26-year-old even had 15 assists to his name.

His exceptional performances in front of goal played a big part in Sporting’s dominance last season, and it has put him on the wishlist of multiple top clubs from across Europe. Some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League want to bring him back to England.

Four Premier League giants want Gyokeres

Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool are the clubs that have been linked with him. They have watched him closely over the last six months and feel he could solve quite a few of their problems in attack.

The Blues were overly reliant on Cole Palmer for goals last season. Not having a proven goal scorer did trouble Chelsea, and they are on the lookout for a new number nine ahead of next season. Gyokeres could be a great signing for them.

While Arsenal do have some quality options up top, Mikel Arteta is not satisfied with their output and wants someone who can guarantee goals. Gyokeres’s stats from last season suggest he could be exactly what they need, with Arsenal showing interest in him.

Tottenham decided against signing a replacement for Harry Kane last summer. But, they have now decided to bring in a top-quality centre-forward, and the Swedish international is one of the names on their wishlist.

Liverpool are also on the lookout for a top striker who can lead their attack for years to come and Gyokeres is one of the names on their wishlist as they look to add more firepower to an already stacked attack.

While all four Premier League outfits are keen on signing the 26-year-old, his £85 million release clause was a major hurdle for them. However, the genuine feeling among these clubs is that Sporting CP will consider offers lower than the clause. With the Swede expected to be available for a bargain fee, the four clubs could enter a bidding war for his signature.
