Andriy Lunin has an offer from Arsenal

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal have reportedly submitted an offer to 25-year-old Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin over a move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Andriy Lunin is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have been scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window amid the uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Aaron Ramsdale. So, they have presented an offer to the 25-year-old Real Madrid goalkeeper.

Andriy Lunin and his Real Madrid journey

Andriy Lunin has resurrected his stuttering career after an exceptional 2023/24 campaign, his breakthrough season at Real Madrid. Thibaut Courtois’s long-term absence through a knee issue and Kepa Arrizabalaga’s untimely injury helped Lunin’s cause as he nailed his spot between the sticks for most of the term.

The 25-year-old amassed nearly 3,000 minutes of game time across 31 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid in the 2023/24 season, keeping 12 clean sheets while conceding 32 goals. However, Lunin’s long-term future at Real Madrid is uncertain after entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With Andriy Lunin’s Real Madrid contract expiring next summer, the situation has not gone unnoticed. Several high-profile clubs across Europe have set their sights on the Ukrainian international, with Arsenal among his prospective suitors in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move in the pipeline?

Arsenal’s interest in Andriy Lunin is understandable. The Gunners have been scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Aaron Ramsdale. With the English shot-stopper keen on embarking on a new adventure, Arsenal should sign a replacement.

Lunin has thus emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, with the North London club presenting an offer to him. Meanwhile, Real Madrid would prefer to keep the 25-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window after his exploits in the 2024/25 season.

The Ukrainian international will likely embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window as he looks to become the first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere. Andriy Lunin’s situation is similar to Emiliano Martinez’s a few years ago when he ironically left Arsenal to join Aston Villa.
