Aston Villa formulating bid to sign Baris Alper Yilmaz

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are preparing a bid to sign Galatasaray attacking sensation Baris Alper Yilmaz ahead of next season.

According to Sabah via Sport Witness, Aston Villa are keen on reinforcing their attack this summer and Unai Emery’s team are interested in the services of Baris Alper Yilmaz. They are preparing to submit an offer for the Galatasaray sensation in the coming days.

Yilmaz joined the Turkish giants in the summer of 2021, and he has not looked back since. The 24-year-old right-winger had an impressive season with Galatasaray last time out. He was involved in 55 matches and contributed towards 19 goals (seven goals, 12 assists) while playing in different positions across the pitch.

His performances helped him earn a place in the Turkiye squad for Euro 2024. Yilmaz might have failed to find the back of the net despite playing as a striker for the majority of the European championship. But his overall performances and especially, his ability to exploit opponents with his pace did not go unnoticed.

Aston Villa preparing offer for Yilmaz

Multiple top clubs want to prise him away from the Turkish club, and Aston Villa are one of them. Unai Emery has no shortage of attacking options at his disposal. But he seeks more firepower and feels Yilmaz could be an exceptional signing for them as he can play anywhere in attack as well as a full-back on either flank.

The report suggests Aston Villa are preparing an offer for the youngster. But there is no mention of how much they are willing to put forward. With three years still left on his deal, Galatasaray have set a new asking price of €35 million following his impressive run at Euro 2024.

Galatasaray’s asking price could be a problem

While Aston Villa are gearing up for the first major step towards signing the Turkish sensation, they might not be ready to meet Galatasaray’s demands which do seem unreasonable. The asking price for the 24-year-old has significantly increased over the past few months. They were looking for just €20 million back in May, it was €30 million less than a week back and now they want another €35 million.

It seems the Turkish giants are looking to make the most out of the amount of interest and cause a bidding war. As a result, it will be interesting to see how things progress from here on for Aston Villa in their pursuit.
