Fulham, Tottenham, West Ham United rival Chelsea in Francisco Conceicao chase

Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are reportedly providing stiff competition to Chelsea for 21-year-old Portuguese international Francisco Conceicao.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Francisco Conceicao is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on bolstering their offensive department in the summer transfer window. However, they will face stiff competition from Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United for the FC Porto attacker.

Who is Francisco Conceicao?

Francisco Conceicao has gone from strength to strength since joining FC Porto from Ajax. A native of Coimbra, he spent most of his formative years in his homeland, although he began his youth career at PAOK. His youth career in Portugal began with Sporting CP before a short spell with Padroense FC.

The 21-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years, although he has travelled a bit before finding a stable footing. Conceicao made his first-team debut for FC Porto in the 2020/21 season but joined Ajax in July 2022. Porto re-signed Conceicao last summer, with the youngster spending the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Estadio do Dragao.

The Portuguese attacker’s progress helped him break into his national team, and he was part of the squad at UEFA Euro 2024. Meanwhile, Francisco Conceicao’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham United. Meanwhile, the youngster’s release clause will rise from £25 million to £38 million on Monday.

A man in demand

Chelsea’s interest in Francisco Conceicao is understandable. The Blues have been keen on signing a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window due to the inconsistencies of Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke, and Mykhailo Mudryk. So, the FC Porto prospect is one of several attackers on Chelsea’s radar.

As for Fulham, they have lost Bobby De Cordova-Reid, with Willian’s long-term future uncertain. So, several wide attackers, including Reiss Nelson, are on Fulham’s radar, with Conceicao also an option worth considering. Meanwhile, Tottenham might part ways with Manor Solomon and Richarlison this summer. The Portuguese international has thus emerged as a target for Tottenham.

Meanwhile, West Ham United are in a spot of bother over Lucas Paqueta’s long-term future due to his betting scandal. So, they have set their sights on Conceicao over a possible summer move. With his release clause rising from £25 million to £38 million in a few days, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea, Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham are ready to trigger it to land him.
