Tottenham, Aston Villa in talks for three-player swap deal involving Jacob Ramsey

Tottenham and Aston Villa are in talks for Jacob Ramsey and could offer at least two players plus cash for the 23-year-old midfielder.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are willing to offer cash plus at least two players, including Giovani Lo Celso, for Jacob Ramsey. Spurs and Aston Villa are reportedly in talks about this three-way swap deal, with the ultimate decision resting on the 23-year-old midfielder.

Tottenham in talks for Jacob Ramsey

Tottenham are in the market for an attacking midfielder with versatile qualities who can play on either side of the pitch. Spurs had Eberechi Eze in their sights, although other bigger clubs are keen on the Crystal Palace star, which may have forced them to consider a different option.

It appears that Tottenham have revived their interest in Jacob Ramsey and may have failed with an offer that included Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine is a player of interest to Unai Emery, with the pair working together while at Villarreal. Spurs are now formulating a different offer, including two players and cash for Ramsey.

Aston Villa were expected to sell Ramsey earlier in the summer to balance their problems with PSR regulations. However, they have made other sales and are now unwilling to sell the 23-year-old midfielder, as Emery would be open to keeping him.

However, the club values Ramsey at around £50 million and would entertain offers for that range. Tottenham are willing to offer Lo Celso and an unnamed player plus cash to test Villa’s resolve, with the two clubs in talks over a deal of this sort. Whether this transpires remains to be seen, as Villa will want more of the cash than players.

Tottenham’s summer plans

Tottenham needs to strengthen several areas, although Ange Postecoglou wants more creativity in his attacking setup. Hence, the interest in the likes of Eze and Ramsey makes sense, although there are other areas that need strengthening.

They would also look for another central midfielder, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg expected to depart. Postecoglou will also want a new forward, either wide or central. A centre-back is also needed to add further cover for their current choices as Spurs plan for a busy summer window ahead.
