Chelsea set to complete Caleb Wiley deal, will loan him to RC Strasbourg

Chelsea are close to completing a deal for Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United, paying £8.5 million and including a sell-on clause.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have all but signed Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United in a deal worth £8.5 million, along with sell-on clauses in favour of the MLS side. The Blues do not plan to integrate the 19-year-old American defensive prospect into their first-team setup just yet, as a loan to RC Strasbourg seems imminent.

Chelsea to sign Caleb Wiley

Chelsea have continued their foray into the market by bringing in more young profiles to add to their exciting project. The ownership has not folded to pressure from fans and other sections to bring established stars as they continue to spend heavily on young talents from around.

They have been chasing Caleb Wiley for a few days now, and it appears Chelsea have found an agreement to bring the 19-year-old American defensive prospect. The defender was not part of the Copa America side but packs plenty of potential to be a regular for the USMNT in the future.

Chelsea have seen this potential and believe Wiley could be a great addition to the future of the team. However, the Blues have a plan in place for the young defender, as he will be loaned straight to the sister club in Strasbourg, France.

The Ligue 1 outfit could be the recipient of many other young talents who would arrive as part of their collaboration with Chelsea. Wiley could be the first in line this summer but certainly not the last. Wiley will sign for Chelsea in an £8.5 million deal from Atlanta United, as the MLS side will also have a sell-on clause as part of the deal, with the American set to sign a long-term agreement until 2031.

Chelsea angling for moves for youngsters

Apart from Wiley, Chelsea have already agreed on a deal for FC Basel man Renato Veiga recently, and they have also agreed terms for Aston Villa’s Omari Kellyman, among others. They are also keen on Villa’s Jhon Duran but have yet to make headway in negotiations for the Colombian striker.

Meanwhile, they are close to finalising a move for young Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino and had to fight off competition for the Boca Juniors star. He and Wiley will come to Stamford Bridge, although only Anselmino will stay back as the American will join Strasbourg on loan to aid his development.
