Liverpool keen on Joao Neves, Orkun Kokcu, Andreas Schjelderup

Liverpool are looking to sign Benfica trio Joao Neves, Orkun Kokcu, and Andreas Schjelderup in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from O Jogo, Liverpool are keen on signing Joao Neves, Orkun Kokcu, and Andreas Schjelderp from Portuguese club Benfica. The trio will cost a combined £314 million due to the presence of release clauses in their contracts.

Joao Neves has a £101 million release clause in his contract, and Benfica are unlikely to let him leave for cheap. The 19-year-old is a prodigious talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a world-class player.

Neves will add control and defensive cover to the Liverpool midfield and he would be the ideal replacement for Thiago Alcantara. The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with other Premier League clubs as well.

Meanwhile, Kokcu has played under Liverpool manager Arne Slot at Feyenoord. So, it is no surprise that the Dutch manager is keen on a reunion. However, the Turkish international has a £128 million release clause, and it is highly unlikely that Liverpool will be able to afford him. They will not want to overspend on players, especially when they need to improve multiple areas of their squad.

As far as Schjelderup is concerned, the Norwegian has a £85 million release clause. So, therefore the combined outlay for the three players would reach around £314 million. It is highly unlikely that Liverpool will spend that kind of money on summer signings. Liverpool have a track record of being diligent with their transfer business, and owners Fenway Sports Group are usually frugal in the transfer market.

There is no doubt that Liverpool need to improve their midfield and attack, and the likes of Neves, Kokcu, and Schjelderup would improve them immensely. But the £314 million figure could complicate matters for the Premier League giants, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to move on to other targets.

Meanwhile, the opportunity to join a club like Liverpool will be quite attractive for all three players. The Reds are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they could provide the three players with the platform to compete at the highest level.

All three players have the physical and technical attributes to do well in English football, and they could establish themselves as important first team players for the club. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
