Manchester United and Manchester City have made proposals to sign Tottenham’s Mikey Moore, with rival clubs sensing an opportunity.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham could be worried about the potential exit of 16-year-old prodigy Mikey Moore as more clubs come in with an offer. There’s already interest from Germany, as Manchester United and Manchester City make their presence felt by making proposals for the teenage sensations.
Who is Mikey Moore?
Mikey Moore is one of the best talents Tottenham’s academy has produced in recent times. The 16-year-old prodigy creates big waves with his performances. Despite his age suiting lower age groups, Moore was a regular fixture with the U-18s and U-21 sides last season.
He also boasts a prolific record for the U-18s, scoring 14 goals and providing 8 assists last season while also making his bow for the first team. In fact, Moore is Tottenham’s youngest-ever Premier League debutant, as Ange Postecoglou wants to integrate the teenager into his first-team plans next season.
Tottenham’s problem is the potential to lose Moore this month, with the teenager only turning 17 on August 11. English rules state that a player can only sign professional terms after turning 17, meaning clubs do have a window of opportunity to make their presence felt with offers.
Borussia Dortmund have already made an offer, as they can tempt Moore with professional terms now and take him. With the gap between now and his 17th birthday not very much, Tottenham may end up keeping Moore away from the clutches of German sides, although there are doubts whether they can from some of their English rivals.
Manchester Clubs in Moore move
Manchester City have been making headlines by signing some of the promising young talents from around the world. Southampton’s Harrison Miles is the latest to agree a deal with Man City, and now they want to add Moore to the equation. With their brilliant track record, the club also has the financial means through their academy to offer the 16-year-old Tottenham prodigy some of the best terms in the market.
Manchester United is not far off from their neighbours, as they, too, can offer tremendous money to a teenage talent to tempt him. The Red Devils have also made an offer to sign Moore, and Tottenham will fight hard to keep hold of the player ahead of the next few days. These Manchester Clubs have seemingly sensed a small window of opportunity and decided to take advantage.
