Sevilla lodge offer to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona

Struggling La Liga giants Sevilla have reportedly tabled a formal bid to sign Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Ansu Fati is the subject of interest from Sevilla. The Andalusian giants are keen on bringing the 21-year-old struggling attacker to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium from fellow La Liga club Barcelona. They have offered a loan deal to sign the youngster, although the proposal needs to improve to secure his services.

Ansu Fati and his woes

Ansu Fati has seen a drastic fall from grace in the last few years. The Bissau native was on top of the world when he made his first-team bow for Barcelona at the onset of the 2019/20 season. However, burnout from playing regularly has stunted his progress, with the youngster becoming a shell of the player he was when he made history half a decade ago.

Pundits and fans alike viewed Fati as the heir to Lionel Messi’s throne. However, with fitness issues engulfing his career, the Spanish international has become a peripheral figure for Barcelona. The 21-year-old spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and managed only 994 minutes of game time across 27 appearances in all competitions.

Widespread reports have claimed that Fati is not in the first-team plans at the Catalan club and that they are ready to sanction another loan departure in the summer transfer window. A move across La Liga might be on the cards for the struggling academy graduate, with Sevilla among his prospective suitors.

Sevilla return on the horizon?

Sevilla’s interest in Ansu Fati is understandable. The Andalusian giants have been scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement heading into the summer transfer window as they look to return to the upper echelons of La Liga. So, Fati has emerged as a viable target for Los Nervionenses.

The latest report has revealed that the struggling La Liga giants have offered a loan deal to sign Fati from Barcelona. The proposal includes a purchase option, with Sevilla not covering even half of his salary. That might be a deal-breaker, with Barcelona needing a better financial bid.

Representatives from Sevilla have already been in touch with Ansu Fati’s entourage to convince him to move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Recent reports have claimed that the 21-year-old struggling academy graduate would prefer to return to Sevilla while leaving Barcelona.
