Chelsea closing in on signing Han Willhoft-King

Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly close to signing 18-year-old England youth international Han Willhoft-King after his Tottenham departure.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Han Willhoft-King is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are continuing their aggressive youth recruitment, with the 18-year-old midfield sensation on the verge of arriving at the club on a free transfer after his exit from Tottenham.

Who is Han Willhoft-King?

Han Willhoft-King will embark on a new adventure in his career after spending his entire youth career thus far with Tottenham Hotspur. A native of London, the England youth international joined Tottenham as a six-year-old in 2012 before spending over a decade with the club.

The 18-year-old is eligible to represent Germany and the USA internationally but has turned out for England thus far. A holding midfield by trade, Willhoft-King turned out 41 times for Tottenham Hotspur’s under-18 side while chipping in with four goals. However, the teenage midfield sensation has not signed a new contract with Tottenham.

Willhoft-King officially became a free agent earlier this week after his contract with Tottenham expired. The Englishman’s next destination will be an even bigger club, with Manchester City on the verge of completing a Bosman move for him.

Free transfer to Manchester City beckons?

Manchester City’s interest in Han Willhoft-King is understandable. The Premier League champions are renowned for constantly scouring the market for highly-rated young prospects to bolster their Elite Development Squad. Manchester City’s youth division has become an even more attractive destination in recent years due to the rise of Phil Foden and Oscar Bobb, among others.

So, it is hardly surprising that Han Willhoft-King’s name has emerged on Manchester City’s radar. A move is close, with the 18-year-old English midfield sensation agreeing to join the Premier League champions. However, he will not be the only young prospect to join City this summer, with Harrison Miles arriving from Southampton.

It will be interesting to see if Willhoft-King continues his progress after joining Manchester City on a free transfer after leaving Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent. The Citizens have beaten many top clubs to his signature.
