Chelsea, Manchester United rival Liverpool in Anthony Gordon chase, price revealed

Liverpool to face competition from rivals Chelsea and Manchester United for the signature of Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool are pushing hard to secure the services of Anthony Gordon but they are not the only English club keen on signing him with Chelsea and Manchester United also in the mix. Interest club will have to fork out around £70-75 million in order to prise him away from Newcastle United.

Gordon has gone from strength to strength since making the move to join the Magpies from Everton in the winter of 2023. Last season, the English international was involved in 48 matches and he contributed towards 23 goals.

While the Magpies didn’t reach the expected levels, Gordon was one of their standout performers. The 23-year-old’s consistency hasn’t gone unnoticed and multiple rival clubs from England are ready to prise him away from Newcastle despite him still having two years left on his deal.

Liverpool pushing for Gordon’s services

Liverpool are one of the clubs that are pushing hard for the former Everton forward’s services. The Reds want to further bolster their attack ahead of next season and they feel the versatile attacker could be a great fit in Arne Slot’s system.

He could do wonders for them in the long run. The Reds have been involved in talks with Newcastle for some time now but they haven’t had a major breakthrough in negotiations so far.

The Magpies are under no pressure to sell players after sanctioning the departure of Yankuba Minteh to Brighton. As a result, they are expected to look for a massive fee of around £70-75 million to part ways with one of their most important players. The price tag will complicate things for the Reds who will also face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk haven’t been consistent enough and the Blues are looking to bring in a new winger who can add more firepower to the attack. Gordon is on their wishlist and he could be a perfect fit for their new project that revolves around young players.

The Red Devils are also in desperate need to strengthen the flanks with Sancho and Mason Greenwood’s future likely to be away from the club. He will fit well in Erik ten Hag’s system and his versatility could give him more tactical options.
