Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer move for 21-year-old Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier.
Chelsea have shown interest in signing Hoffenheim’s rising star Maximilian Beier, according to renowned reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on GIVEMESPORT.
While the Blues have not yet started formal negotiations, they have internally discussed the potential acquisition of the German striker. Under the guidance of new manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are keen on bolstering their attacking options this summer. Beier, a promising young talent who featured for Germany at Euro 2024, has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.
The 21-year-old striker has a release clause of £25 million, making him an attractive option in the current transfer market. Beier’s impressive debut season in the Bundesliga saw him score 16 goals in 33 matches, helping Hoffenheim secure a seventh-place finish in the Bundesliga. This remarkable performance has solidified his reputation as one of the most promising attackers in the league.
A rising star
Beier’s journey to prominence began when he made his Bundesliga debut for Hoffenheim in 2020 at the age of 17, becoming the club’s youngest-ever league debutant. Before his breakthrough season, Beier spent two years on loan at Hannover in the second division, where he netted 15 goals in 68 appearances.
His development during this period was praised by Hoffenheim’s sporting director Alexander Rosen, highlighting Beier’s potential to make an impact at the top level. He appears to be doing that now. Last season, Beier’s performances drew attention from several top clubs, including Liverpool, who were interested in signing him.
Now, with both Chelsea and Manchester United in the market for a centre-forward, Beier’s wish to leave Hoffenheim could be fulfilled. His playing style, often compared to that of Thomas Müller, makes him a versatile and valuable addition to any squad.
Chelsea’s Future Under Enzo Maresca
If Chelsea succeed in signing Maximilian Beier, he would become part of Enzo Maresca’s ambitious plans to revamp the squad at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have been active in the transfer market, already securing deals for centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo and striker Omari Kellyman. Additionally, they are close to finalising a move for Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Beier’s proven goalscoring ability and versatility in attack could provide the edge Chelsea needs to compete at the highest level. While the competition from Manchester United and other interested clubs may pose a challenge, Chelsea have shown that they do not run away from a flight.
