Sevilla are interested in signing Spanish attacking sensation Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea this summer.
According to a report from Fichajes, Sevilla want to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. They are interested in the services of Spanish youth international Marc Guiu and are looking to sign him on a season-long loan.
Chelsea sign Guiu from Barcelona
The teenager’s impressive rise at Barcelona didn’t go unnoticed, multiple top clubs were keen on prising him away from the Spanish club. But, it seems Chelsea are the ones who have managed to win the race for his signature.
The Blues were keen on adding the young star to their squad and everything is in place for his transfer to become official. Guiu still had a year left on his Barcelona deal and the club were keen on extending it. But, they haven’t been able to hold onto one of their brightest young talents as Chelsea triggered his release clause worth just €6 million.
The Blues were in negotiations with the player and they seem to have convinced him about penning down a six-year deal. While he is expected to undergo his medical as a Chelsea player soon, there is already interest from clubs to sign him on loan for the 2024/25 season.
Guiu has shown a lot of promise coming up the ranks at Barcelona and he did have some impressive performances for their first team as well. But, he is not yet ready to be a starter at Chelsea. While the Blues do need a new number, they are expected to bring in a world-class forward who will lead their line.
Sevilla want to sign Guiu on loan
Given the number of attacking options they have, Guiu is unlikely to have much game time at the club. As a result, a loan move away could help his development and Sevilla are the ones pushing for his signature.
Sports director Víctor Orta has expressed interest in signing the young attacking sensation. He considers the 18-year-old to be an ideal option to add more firepower to their attack.
It could be a win-win situation for both Sevilla and the player. He will get the opportunity to continue his development in Spain with regular first-team action. The coming months will be very important in defining Guiu’s immediate future.
